The Kwara State Police Command has apprehended Yaman Patigi, a 36-year-old resident of Patigi town, suspected of providing food and supplies to bandits and kidnappers.

The arrest followed increased vigilance by locals in the Patigi Local Government Area.Patigi was detained last week while purchasing N20,000 worth of suya and large quantities of assorted drinks, including alcoholic beverages, cigarettes, drugs, and spaghetti, allegedly intended for a bandits’ hideout.

Former abductees reported being fed minimal portions of spaghetti during their captivity. The suspect claimed the items were for Fulani residents in an isolated settlement, but his explanation failed to convince locals.

Community leader Muhammed Ndako and council chairman Hon. Ahmed Rufai confirmed the incident, noting that Patigi was handed over to security operatives.

Commissioner of Police Adekimi Ojo stated that the suspect’s unusual purchases raised red flags.

“Residents noticed the large quantities of suya and drinks, and his vague responses led to his arrest,” Ojo told Daily Trust, crediting the alertness of Kwara citizens for the breakthrough.
