The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has urged Nigerians to be wary of political coalitions that lack substance, structure, and a clear purpose, cautioning that such alliances are often fueled by personal ambition rather than the nation’s interest.
In a statement on Friday, APC spokesperson Seye Oladejo dismissed the recent coalition between the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and other political groups as “a collection of political opportunists with no defined agenda, ideological grounding, or electoral relevance.”
He emphasized that the coalition lacks grassroots backing, credibility, and a unified policy framework.
“The ADC’s attempt to reposition itself is nothing more than recycled rhetoric,” he said. “Such alliances are often formed by disgruntled politicians seeking shortcuts to power rather than engaging meaningfully with the Nigerian people.”
The APC further accused members of the coalition of “political bigamy,” alleging that many of them still maintain membership in their former parties while presenting themselves as part of a new movement. This, the party said, is a deliberate attempt to mislead the public.
It dismissed the coalition’s relevance, describing it as a distraction with a limited shelf life. “The APC government will not be sidetracked by political rabble-rousers,” the statement read.
Reaffirming its commitment to governance, the APC said: “We are irrevocably committed to delivering on our social contract. The future of this country lies in tested leadership, credible policies, and a united national direction—none of which the ADC offers.”
