FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has declared that no individual is above the law in Abuja, dismissing the notion of "untouchables" in the capital city.
Speaking at the 2025 Distinguished Personality Lecture at Obafemi Awolowo University, on Thursday, June 05, Wike emphasized that his administration has enforced strict compliance with rules and regulations since taking office nearly two years ago.
Wike noted that affluent areas like Maitama, Asokoro, and the Central Business District are occupied by the rich, who often believe they are exempt from the law.
However, he emphasized that everyone, regardless of status or influence, must pay taxes and comply with regulations.
The former governor, stressed that leadership requires making bold decisions for the common good, rather than seeking popularity or sentiment.
Wike added that he was appointed to deliver effective governance, not to participate in a "beauty contest." He emphasized that no one is exemptef from the law, regardless of their status or influence.
He further praised President Bola Tinubu for his bold and decisive leadership style.
