Members of the Ogun State House of Assembly today held an interactive session with the State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, and the Management teams of other related agencies towards finding a lasting measure towards addressing the havoc caused by the effect of natural disaster.
The lawmakers led by the Majority Leader, Yusuf Sherif, during the meeting held at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, also extended another invitation for an interface with the State Commissioner for Special Duties and the Inter-governmental Affairs for Thursday, 6th March, 2025 at 12 noon, to further discussion on the need to address the emergency response required in the communities affected by rainstorm and fire outbreak.
The Assemblymen in their various remarks said there was a need for the relevant agencies of the State Government to always provide immediate succour to the victims, without delay.
In his remarks, the State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Arigbabu, explained that the State Government was already addressing the issue of repairs of school buildings affected by natural disasters, while the Ministry through the Ogun REHAB scheme had commenced the maintenance and rehabilitation of other school buildings to forestall collapse.
Also, the Director in charge of the State Emergency Management Agency, Mr. Wale Sonde, said that the agency had been providing relief materials to disaster victims across the State.
Other officials at the meeting included the Permanent Secretary, Teaching Service Commission, Mrs. Melutia Ogunremi and the Board Secretary, State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr. Mukail Lawal.
