NAPPS OGC: Ogun State Shines at the Omoluabi Governor's Cup 2025

The National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS) proudly hosted the Southwest Sports Festival, aptly tagged the Omoluabi Governor's Cup (OGC) 2025, showcasing the outstanding talents of young athletes across the Southwest States of the country. The festival, held over the weekend at University of Ibadan stadium and Adamasingba, was a thrilling display of sportsmanship and competitive spirit, bringing together schools from across the region to compete in various disciplines.

Ogun State participants demonstrated remarkable prowess, earning accolades in multiple events. Among the standout performances was that of Idris Muiz from Great Learners School, Obafemi Owode, who clinched a bronze medal in the fiercely contested 800m boys’ race. His dedication and hard work culminated in this achievement, making his school and community proud.

In the realm of table tennis, Akinfenwa Daniel from Paragon International School, Abeokuta South, Ogun state showcased his skills to secure a bronze medal. His strategic play and quick reflexes were pivotal in navigating the challenges posed by his opponents. Saliu Henry, also from Paragon International College, Odeda, Ogun state impressed the audience by winning a bronze medal in chess, showcasing not only his competitive spirit but also his strategic thinking abilities.

Henry Bright from Omoyele Academy, Sagamu, was another highlight of the event, achieving silver in the 400m boys’ race. His performance was a testament to his relentless training and determination, establishing him as a rising star in the athletics community. However, the festival was not without its challenges, as one event was marked as inconclusive, reminding participants of the unpredictable nature of sports.

In a special recognition, Tobi Akanji was awarded the title of Best Goalkeeper, acknowledging his exceptional performance in the football matches throughout the festival.
