In a bid to tackle insecurities such as kidnapping, banditry, ritualistic and other related crimes in Ogun State, The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps), has trained over 600 personnel to enhance the state security system.
According to The State Commander of So-Safe, Dr. Soji Ganzallo who revealed this planning on Tuesday at the final day of the training, in Ilaro, Ogun State.
He said, The training will lasted for three weeks, and aimed to equip personnel with the necessary knowledge and skills to combat security challenges in a modern ways.
Ganzallo, also noted that the training was targeted to equip and arm their personnel with the required knowledge and information to combat insecurity to meet the new standards of the security system in the world.
He assured that the corps will continue to always train its personnel so as to prepare them adequately to have more ideas, to be equipped to be familiar with the scope of providing security to the entire state.
Ganzallo said: “I want to sincerely appreciate your discipline during the training, You all exhibited unwavering readiness for the exercise, I must appreciate you for your sacrifice towards ensuring Ogun State is safe for all and sundry".
"I hope you have equipped yourself with the series of lectures by the officer of Ogun State Police and other sisters agencies, and I believe you have learnt from corps instructors as well.”
“Our expectations after this training were to ensure that security personnel, particularly So-Safe corps, are well equipped and to prepare them ahead of the forthcoming election.”
“We have been proactive and made our officers combat ready, and they can be able to face any challenges ahead of us.”
The corps scribe also praised the State Government for providing an enable environment, also noting that the collaboration with other security agencies has provided a larger platform to achieve recorded accomplishments in the state as one of the peaceful states in Nigeria.
Also speaking, the Hon. Commissioner , Ogun State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftiancy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat, represented by Mrs. Bose Olaniyan (Deputy Director in the ministry), implored all the officers to continue the good work, assiduously urging them to apply all the training acquired to their day-to-day activities as the security actors in the state.
"I want to appreciate the organisers of this security training programme, your tireless efforts in coordination and executing this initiative have not gone unnoticed".
"Your dedication to enhance the skills and knowledge of our security personnel is truly commendable and we appreciate your commitment to excellence and your passion for fostering a culture of safety and resilience".
"I want to charge you to imbibe the culture of integrity, professionalism and dedication which should be your greatest assets, stay true to your values and always prioritize safety and security ", she added.
The training which was held for three weeks also featured lectures on the theme: "Effective Community Policing as Solution to Cybercrime and other Related Crimes" organized in conjunction with the Nigeria Police Force, Ogun State Command.
The training featured physical training exercises (martial arts) during the parade. Also included are Peacekeeping and Intervention, Crime and Society, Unconventional and Guerrilla Warfare Security Operations, Criminal Investigation and Intelligence, Illicit Drug Crime, and Crime Prevention.
Present at the ceremony were Bishop A.P Olaitan (Chairman So-Safe Marshal), Mr. Akinlabi Opeyemi (Admin Officer, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftiancy Affairs), Alhaji Shuaib Aro, among other important dignitaries.
