Man Reportedly Goes Missing After Boarding Cab in Abeokuta, Wife Shares Distressing Account

In a report by Punch, a man identified as Mr. Olumide Openaike, went missing after boarding cab in Abeokuta. His wife, Mrs. Temitope Openaike, shared distressing account.

According to Mrs. Temitope Openaike, both she and her husband left their residence in Bode Olude, Abeokuta, on a fateful Wednesday. Mrs. Openaike proceeded to Onikolobo in a cab for her work with a microfinance bank, while her husband remained at Elega Junction, trying to get a cab to his workplace at Kemta Oloko, Abeokuta.

She said, "We both left our place of abode, Bode Olude, Abeokuta, on that fateful Wednesday. We boarded the cab at Elega Junction, after which we both departed. I left in a taxi to Onikolobo, where I work with a microfinance bank; he was still trying to get a cab to his workplace at Kemta Oloko, Abeokuta, when I left."

The concerning details emerged around 10 a.m. when Mrs. Openaike attempted to reach her husband by phone, only to encounter a switched-off device. Initially attributing this to his potential busyness, she continued with her daily activities. However, upon returning home in the evening, her husband was nowhere to be found, and his phone remained switched off.

Further investigation revealed that he did not make it to his workplace at Kemta Oloko that day, and colleagues confirmed unsuccessful attempts to contact him.

She said, "Around 10 a.m., I tried calling him, but his phone rang out. I thought he was busy, so I continued with my work until I got home in the evening and he was nowhere to be found. He did not come back home, and his phone was switched off. His colleagues at work also said they had called him and that his phone rang out, and later it was switched off. So, he did not get to his place of work that day and never returned home."

SP Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, verified the occurrence and affirmed their commitment to disseminating the information widely and also reuniting him with his family.
