The Chairman of The Mandate Movement (TMM) in Mushin Local Government, Lagos State, Alhaji Akeem Alani Kushimo, reflected on the historical significance of the group and addressed the suspension of the Chairman of the illegal group in Odi Olowo, parading themselves as TMM, shedding light on the movement's true legacy.
In a statement, Kushimo said TMM is an integral part of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Campaign Organization (BATCO), which has played a pivotal role in the political landscape of Lagos. It served as the platform through which election campaigns were conducted, dedicated to a singular cause - the betterment of the community and the nation.
"One of the defining moments in TMM's history was the announcement of Abdullahi Ayinde Enilolobo as the State Chairman during a stakeholders' meeting. This announcement is in the presence of Card. James Odunmbaku and the late Baba Badmus (Batiko) solidified Enilolobo's position as the legitimate State Chairman, a move that emphasized the movement's commitment to transparency and adherence to established procedures.
"The Mandate Movement's ability to mobilize the people of Lagos, effectively shutting down the city during election campaigns, showcased its genuine grassroots support. This set the movement apart from those who merely claimed association without making a substantial contribution to the cause."
The statement also addressed the purported suspension of Chief Rafiu Aderomola and Alhaji Mukaila Bakare, who were alleged of wrongdoings in Odi Olowo. Alhaji Akeem Alani Kushimo clarified that the purported suspension does not represent the true position of The Mandate Movement. Hence, the general public should disregard it as total illegality.
"The question we need to ask those that are involved in this purported suspension is who they reported to and how they got the nod for their actions. In as much as we respect Card. James Odumbaku and his past contributions to the group, it is essential to query their reports to "Chairman Ijeta," who handed over to late Ahaji Badmus before Abdullahi Enilolobo took over."
In closing, Kushimo reassured the public that the real Mandate group remains committed to its values, principles, and the genuine support of the people. The movement's legacy remains untarnished and unwavering in its dedication to the betterment of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Lagos State, and the nation. "Clarity will prevail, and the true essence of The Mandate Movement will continue to shine through," he concluded.
In a separate statement, echoing the leader of The Mandate Movement in Odi Olowo, Hon. Olayinka Falade, he firmly emphasized his unwavering stance. He stated that the group is aware of those impersonating and marked by continuous efforts to shy away from the truth.
He declared the group's unwavering determination to uphold truth over falsehood, embodying The Mandate Movement's spirit of defiance and resilience.
The duo statement serves as a reminder of The Mandate Movement's enduring impact on Lagos politics and its unwavering commitment to transparency and grassroots support.
