Lisabi Old Students 98set Take Medical Outreach To Alma Mata, 150 Staffs Benefit

No fewer than 150 staffs of Lisabi Grammar School Abeokuta have benefitted from free medical care, during a medical outreach organised by the school’s Old Students’ Association 1988 set.

The old students led by their Chairman, Mr Femi Oduwole stormed the school premises on Saturday, in what is better described as homecoming, to contribute their quota to healthcare of the teaching and non-teaching staffs ranging from junior school to the senior secondary school. 

Among the services rendered to the beneficiaries were medical consultation, blood sugar, high blood pressure (BP) among others. 

According to the Chairman of the Old Students’ Association 98 set, Mr Femi Oduwole, explained that the gesture was in commemoration of their 25th anniversary adding that it was resolved among the planning committee to do something different by organizing a medical outreach for the school staffs. 

Mr Oduwole revealed that most old students majorly concentrate on what the students will benefit from but mostly forget teaching staffs, therefore 98 set put their heads together and organized a medical outreach, because whoever that is healthy will be able to discharge his or her duty very well.

According to him "Some other sets or let me just say the whole students, the major things we more concentrate is on what we benefit the students but this time around our anniversary committee coupled with all other members put their heads together and we were like, there should be something to be done for the teaching staff because you know a healthy man is a worthy man, whoever that is healthy will be able to discharges his or her duty very well."

"From our survey and feasibility studies we got to know that the total staffs we have at the moment are around 150 staffs, teaching and non-teaching ranging from junior school to the senior school, So, we are conducting the medical checkups for 150 staffs"

Speaking on what government can do towards improving healthcare system,  Mr Oduwole appealed to government at all levels to prioritize teacher's health, saying that people in government were actually taught by teachers, therefore there should be improving in their health system. 

His words "Honestly our government needs to do a lot because even people who are in government today they were being taught by a teacher they won’t be where they are if the teachers are not there,I think they need to do more on the teachers health."

"They need to provide a health facilities like HMO for the teachers I guess at least that will subsidize the money that the teachers will be spending on their health because once they are healthy,  the society will be good because what they will give to the students will be a healthy education as well so I think our government needs to provide HMO for the teachers.", Mr Oduwole concluded.

On her parts, the principal of Lisabi grammar school senior, Mrs Odutayo  Titilayo Adedayo commended old students association 98set for deeming it fit to do a medical checkups for their school staffs, described the gesture as highly commendable and was elated with the move. 

She said "Though,sets have been coming in and what they are Concern about majorly is what they can do for the students, but for this sets of 1998 having us in mind that it is with good health that teacher's can discharge their duties,i really appreciate that."

The school junior Principal, Mrs Joseph who also grant media interview, expressed her appreciation to 98 set, explaining that she feel so excited that this is happening in a time that the old students  coming back to give back to school they finish, it's quite exciting and well encouraging.
