Birthday Tribute To Engineer Nuhu Gidado By Rotimi Makinde

Celebrating the life of a man, Engineer Nuhu Gidado who has put smile on my face and the faces of millions of people directly or indirectly, is not negotiable, considering how he has made positive impact in all spheres of life in his quest to be kind and add value to humanity. No wonder he was nicknamed ‘Zuciyar Talakawa’, meaning the heartbeat of the masses.

Seeing most of his admirers, friends, family, political and business associates rolled out the drums to celebrate Engineer Nuhu Gidado, outstandingly proves that he has distinguished himself as a quintessential gentleman, philanthropist, humanist, administrator par excellence, respected politician, businessman, husband and a responsible father. Looking at the way he has managed his life and community service, he has shown that he is a leader worth celebrating by all standards.

Since he ventured into politics, Engineer Nuhu Gidado has proved beyond reasonable doubt that he is determined and focused to bring out the best in whatever task given to him. He has over the years, through perseverance and forthrightness, distinguished himself in business and political circles.

He has also excelled in private and public life without soiling his hands. Today, he is among Nigerian politicians who stand stall in the polity, without any corruption charges hanging on his neck. Engineer Nuhu, can be described as an accomplished Nigerian, who has contributed to the development of the country in different capacities, especially when he held sway as Deputy Governor of Bauchi State from 2015 to 2018, having resigned just a year before his tenure came to an end. He was Commissioner for Education while he was Deputy Governor and successfully led the education reforms that saw to a huge percentile increment in the number of students that passed their WAEC or NECO exams; a statistic where Bauchi’s ranking or position wasn’t too encouraging.

Before he actively delved into politics, he was the Chairman of Brixman, an indigenous construction firm with offices in Abuja, Bauchi and Yobe states. He was also founding Chairman of Buildings, another construction company where he operated a partnership with Engr. Habu Mamman, former Managing Director of Yankari Games Reserve in Bauchi. Similarly, he was the Project Manager at NDIC, where he oversaw the construction of the current NDIC headquarters in the heart of Abuja’s Central Business District, just on the expressway from the Airport. Before a stint at NDIC, Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation, Nuhu Gidado rose to become Area Engineer in Bauchi state ministry of works and housing, where he supervised so many construction projects for various governments in Bauchi, during the military regime days of the 80s and 90s. History is indeed replete with his many indelible accomplishments in life.

Working with him very closely as our Board Chairman, in the Governing Council of the Federal Polytechnic at Damaturu, Yobe state, I know him to be very savvy, we call him Team Leader because he operates as one and very  cerebral .He is a man who has esteemed himself as a leader with class, compassion, fitness, finesse, integrity and competence, a type that is rare in our body politic. I strongly agree with millions of others who have said he has a date with destiny and will no doubt play a pivotal role for All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State in year 2023 and beyond.

You remain the embodiment of Nigerian entrepreneurial spirit. Your focus, endurance and commitment to a prosperous Nigeria and indeed Africa have marked you out for greater glory and success. Congratulations to you sir.
