Sunday "Igboho" Adeyemo, a Yoruba Nation activist, has called for dialogue while insisting that self-determination may be attained without killing.

This was said by Igboho's attorney, Yomi Alliyu, in a statement released on Thursday, March 10.

"Seeing what is occurring in Ukraine and some sections of Igboland in Nigeria, he continues to preach against war," the statement states. He urged everyone, especially his kinsmen at home and abroad, to engage in dialogue in their desire for self-determination without aggravating Nigeria's already precarious condition.

"He believes that, as he used to say at rallies, their goal can be attained without firing a shot."

His lawyer further described him as saying that he would not give up the fight for self-determination and thanked all who had supported him while incarcerated.

"Sunday Adeyemo a.k.a Igboho Oosa thanked those who are supporting him, especially his leaders, Baba Prof Akintoye and Baba Prof. Wale Adeniran, as well as all Nigerians, particularly his people in Ilana Oodua and Affiliates seeking self-determination," the message read.

"He thanks Chief Dele Momodu for being the only notable Yoruba to visit him in jail in Cotonou. He is thankful to President Talon of the Republic of Benin for releasing him from prison in order to reunite him with members of his immediate family, although temporarily in Cotonou."

The remark comes after Benin Republic officials released Igboho from prison on Monday, March 7.
