ABEOKUTA - Chief Jimi Adebisi Lawal, a governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State has berated the increasing security threats in the state, calling on concerned  stakeholders to rescue the state from collapsing.


Jimi Lawal who declared interest to contest the governorship seat in the state last week, stated this at the weekend in Abeokuta while meeting with PDP leaders in the state.


He said residents of the state cannot sleep with their two eyes closed following the rising spate of insecurity including kidnapping, ritual killing, and robbery.


He stated further that, "there are many examples that can be given, the first is the level of insecurity in the state, under Governor Daniel, there was a bit of insecurity, Governor Amosun came on board and we could all sleep with our two eyes closed, last couple of years, this security is bad, be it cultism, armed robbery or kidnapping, it is bad.


"Our state is bleeding, we need to save Ogun State, the weight of our experience, qualifications and character should be check mate, as I will like to emerge as the next state governor through the platform of Peoples Democratic Party.


"There is poverty in the land, people are jobless, all these thing need quick response as our state deserves better and we can do better".


Lawal, therefore, promised to look into the economic development, health care delivery, and education sector of the state if given the party's ticket.

While speaking to newsmen, Lawal said, some of the infrastructure constructed through public funds by the last administration have been neglected by Governor Dapo Abiodun government in the state, citing examples of the Model College, he said his administration would put an end to the imbalance system of governance saying "the best way to worship God is to serve humanity".


He said "the purpose of my entire being is because I believe that the best way to worship God is to serve humanity, I prefer to serve humanity to the last breathe in me and I want to serve humanity by working as the governor of Ogun State to make life better and easier for all".


Earlier, in his remarks, the PDP Chairman in Ogun State, Hon. Sikirulai Ogundele said the party is open for all eligible aspirants to contest.


Ogundele said the party is more united and ready to wrestle power from the ruling APC as more defectors are coming into the folds of the party.
