In its quest to reaching out to the less privileged and giving them a sense of belonging during the Yuletide, an NGO, Hope Emerge has organized giveaways in four states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja.

The benefiting states are Lagos (Ebute-Meta, Surulere, Ojodu Berger, Ikorodu and Bariga),  Oyo (Ibadan), Kwara (Ilorin), Cross River, Ogun (Odogbolu) and FCT (Abuja).

The giveaway kick started in Tanke Ilorin on December 15, where several individuals and families received succour.

On December 16, the humanitarian train berthed at Odogbolu and was simultaneously held in Abuja.

The distribution of items will be done at Isheri/Ojodu on December 18, before proceeding to Surulere on December 21.

Two days to Christmas on December 23, the train will berth in Cross River State and storm Ikorodu and Bariga on Christmas Eve.

Speaking to our correspondent on phone, CEO of Hope Emerge, Vivianne Adelagun   said that the foundation which was incorporated in 2018, is geared towards providing avenues towards attaining and educating the underserved about preventative care, women empowerment, child and maternal safety.

"Because of the increasing mortality rate, I started by doing prenatal care to save lives of mothers and their children.

"I know people who are poor and need preventive care to prevent huge medical bills they can't afford.

"We started by giving away food stuff at Christmas, Easter and my birthday. We give out bags of rice, beans tomatoes and spices so that they can have a balanced diet.

"I also do medical outreach. Our medical outreach is an annual mini clinic which focuses on medical check ups and interventions as well as follow up for people who cannot afford basic healthcare," she said.

According to her, they assess people based on their financial status and pay for their tests, surgeries and treatment.

Speaking further, she said that they also go to orphanages and meet their most pressing needs.

""I go to orphanages and donate. There was an orphanage that urgently needed a toilet and through our intervention, they got one," she informed.

The philantropist added that presently, she has adopted several orphans and also caters for education of a dozen others.

She said they can be accessed via their website, www.hopeemerge.org, while the Instagram page is @hopeemerge

The NGO is  registered  in Nigeria and the United States.

It has 13 board of Directors and 1 financial Secretary who collaborates and works together to ensure the implementation of outreaches and charity events.

"We also have about 14 Hope Emerge Angels who volunteer in the various states to help us execute our plans . Our funds are generated from private citizens in Nigeria and the US who donate generously towards our mission," she explained.

According to her, "the people  that run things in Nigeria are Prince Adewale Akisanya and Mrs Adeola Akisanya and the financial Secretary is Mrs Sandra Ebietomiye."
