Yewa North: Resident Of Ayetoro Commends Ogun State Govt Over Distribution Of Insecticide Nets

The residents of Aiyetoro in Yewa North local government has commended Ogun State government over the distribution of Treated Insecticide Nets across the 20 local government in the state.

The Insecticide net was widely accepted in the local government by the residents of the community and they vowed to use it since it is for their own benefits.

The Society for Family Health (SFH) concluded the plans to distribute 3.7 million long-lasting insecticide-treated mosquito nets in Ogun State.


Mrs Adeyinka Olamide, SFH Malaria Programme Manager, disclosed this during a media Orientation on Insecticide Treated Nets (ITN) campaign 2021 in Abeokuta.


The objective of the orientation is to provide an opportunity for journalists to assist in creating awareness and enlightening the masses on the distribution of the nets and also have an insight into the mosquito net distribution campaign.

Olamide said the net distribution campaign was to encourage and sensitise the people on the use of the mosquito nets in order to prevent and control malaria.


Amebo Newspaper NG correspondent when visited the local government during the distribution interviewed some of the households and below are their reactions.

Mrs Titilayo Onamade, a fish seller said she really appreciate the gesture extended to them by the state government and other stakeholders involved by rescuing them from the deadly malaria which has been causing havoc to the community years back.

" I must commend the state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, a loving governor and our messiah for remembering us in government with the mosquito net which will definitely reduce our cost of living because my children always complain of malaria often times and we will visit the hospital for treatment, this net will really give us a relief" Mrs Onamade said.

Also, a farmer Mr Gafar Shokeye told our correspondent how happy he was on the day of inauguration of the net at the local government because he has been looking for a way to get it and he couldn't get it when he tried to buy for his children.

"We will make sure we use this mosquito nets according to how it was displayed by the ambassador on inauguration day and we will continue to thank the state governor and the collaborators for their kind gesture." Mr Gafar added.
