President Buhari To Commission 156km Lagos—Ibadan Standard Rail Guage In Ogun

IFO —  President Mohammadu Buhari will be commissioning the 156km standard rail gauge Lagos to Abeokuta railway gauge tomorrow after successful completion.



The project,will be the first of its kind to be started and completed by a sitting government since 1960 , the project, the house of representative member, Hon Ibrahim Ayokunle Isiaka, Ifo — Ewekoro constituency was a key player representing the National Assembly green chamber both in Nigeria and China.

According to Hon Ibrahim Isiaka, "My great People of Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency, I'm glad to announce to you, that President Muhammadu Buhari will tomorrow, commission the 156km Lagos—Ibadan standard gauge railway line in Lagos, the first double-track standard gauge rail in West Africa, and the first Nigerian railway line to be started and completed by the same administration, since 1960." He said.

The construction of the railway gauge started in March 2017, and test-running commenced in December 2019. 
The Ebute Metta Station, known as the Mobolaji Johnson Station, is the largest railway station in West Africa with a holding capacity of 6,000 passengers.

"You will all recall that I've been on the Team for this land mark achievement since 2017, shuttling Nigeria and China. Right from the Front End Engineering and Design to the delivery of the rolling stocks. It is also on record that your Rep. was a significant stakeholder on Local Content and Capacity Development that facilitated siting of the Assembly Plant at Kajola in Ifo Local Government. 60% of the corridor falls." Hon Ibrahim Isiaka added.
