Three out of eight suspected land grabbers, who invaded a building site under construction in Ogun State and snatched a bag containing the sum of N500,000 from the female owner, have been apprehended.

Aside from the money in the bag, two handsets valued at N40,000, were made away with in the incident that occurred at Itusokun Quarters in the ancient town of Odogbolu.

The fierce-looking hoodlums, Crime Puzzle learnt, shot sporadically, a scenario the workers on the site could not withstand and had to scamper for safey.

The female property owner, Kemi Olukoya, quickly lodged a complaint at the Odogbolu Police Division, spurring the DPO, SP Adeniyi Awokunle, to spring into action, a resultant effect of which was the arrest of the suspects.

In a press release by the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, he said, "Upon the report, the DPO mobilized his men and moved to the scene. On getting there, the hoodlums were seen escaping through the nearby bush and, had to be chased by the police operatives

"One of them, by name, Wasiu Adenuga, was subsequently apprehended. Further combing of the bush led to the arrest of two others namely; Michael John and Moruf Alaba, while three Bajaj motorcycles they used for their operation were also impounded", the PPRO hinted, adding that the victim has identified the three suspects to be part of the gang that committed the crime.

According to Oyeyemi, the state Commissioner of Police, Edward Awolowo Ajogun, has directed that the remaining members of the gang be hunted for and brought to justice, even as he ordered the immediate transfer of the three arrested suspects to be transferred to the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence of the state for discreet investigation.
