Abeokuta — The Commissioner of Agriculture in Ogun State, Dr Samson Adeola Odedina has shined at the 33rd Southwest Research Extension Farmers Input Linkage System REFILS's Workshop held in Oyo State.

According to Odedina, 'It was a pleasure to represent Ogun State Government at the Opening Ceremony of 2020/2021 Annual In-house Review and 33rd South-West Research Extension Farmers Input Linkage System (REFILS) of the International Institute of Agricultural Research and Training ( I.A.R&T) Obafemi Awolowo University which incidentally is my alma mater, today, 26th April 2021 at an event held at the Prof. E.A Adebowale Training Hall, I.A.R&T Ibadan, Oyo State."


The REFILS workshop which is slated for 5 days (26th April- 30th April 2021) is  an annual event to review the activities of research and extension, carried out in the previous year, evaluate ongoing and completed research and to promote the development and  improvement in Agricultural technologies in the Zones. It also involves linkage of farmers to input and other service agencies.




The drive of REFILS is in tandem with the vision of the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration on Agriculture, in terms of provision of land, credit, offtakers, markets and other services for farmers in the State.

In attendance were the Ogun Agric team which included the Permanent Secretary  Ogun State Ministry of Agriculture, Dr. Dotun Sorunke; Programme Manager, Ogun State Agricultural Development Programme (OGADEP), Mrs Taiwo Ayansanwo; and State Project Coordinator of  Fadama-Nigeria Cares, Mrs Solape Awe.








Other Dignitaries at the event were, the Honourable Minister for Agriculture ably represented by the Executive Secretary, Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria,  Prof. Garba Sharubutu; Chief of Staff to the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Chief Bisi Ilaka; Honourable Commissioner for Agriculture Oyo State, Hon. Muyiwa Ojekunle; Commissioner for Agriculture Ekiti State, Dr. Debo Adetoyi; Commissioner for Agriculture Osun State, Hon. Adedayo Adewole; The Olojudo of Ido Ile Ekiti, HRH, Oba Aderemi Obaleye; Keynote Speakers, Dr. Debo Akande and  the Executive Adviser to Oyo State on Agribusiness and Prof. Muhammed Kuta Yahaya; Chairman Governing Board of I.A.R&T and Vice Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University, Prof. Eyitope Ogunbodede, Executive Director of I.A.R&T, Prof. Veronica Obatolu; Executive Directors of Research Institutes, Non Governmental Organisations, Farmers Organization, Input Agencies, Agrochemicals and Agro-Allied Companies, Federal/ State Agencies and others
