… As Special Adviser, Others Inspect Ongoing Construction Works In Ikorodu Ahead of the Rains

The Lagos State Government has reiterated its commitment to ensuring the delivery of all ongoing projects, especially the timely delivery of the rehabilitation and reconstruction of Ijede-Ewu Elepe, Oba Sekunmade and other roads in Ikorodu.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Works and Infrastructure, Engr. (Mrs.) Aramide Adeyoye, disclosed this today while inspecting some iconic road projects in Ikorodu, along with some members of the State House of Assembly ahead of the fast-approaching seasonal rains.

She said construction work on the roads is advancing at a commendable speed because of the commitment of the State Government to solving the traffic challenges along that corridor and making the roads available for commuters and pedestrians.

Adeyoye assured residents that the scope and specifications for the projects remain unaltered, especially Oba Sekunmade Road, which is a strategic link to Ebute Jetty and the Ipakodo Lighter Terminal towards the attainment of the multi-modal transportation system and a major boost to the national economy.

Speaking about the 6.1km long Ijede Road, the Special Adviser expressed the determination of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to ensure its completion before the rains and implored the contractors to give their best to the speedy conclusion of the projects.

While enjoining residents to show more understanding and bear the temporary inconveniences being experienced as a result of the construction works, Mrs. Adeyoye noted that the projects will ultimately increase road connectivity, facilitate better traffic flow, reduce travel time and greatly improve the health of the residents as well as enhance the value of property in the area.

Also speaking during the inspection tour of the projects, Mr. Sanai Agunbiade, Majority Leader, Lagos State House of Assembly and representative of Ikorodu Constituency 1, emphasised the importance of the road projects, describing them as vital to linking Ikorodu town to Lagos-Ikorodu Road as well as connecting about 20 communities in the Division.

He also expressed satisfaction at the pace and quality of the job, saying "I am really impressed at the progress of work done and the quality of supervision and monitoring by the team from the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure".

Commending Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for the unwavering commitment to the delivery of his electoral promise, the Aro of Ipakodo, Chief Julius Shonubi, expressed delight at seeing the project take shape, pointing out that effective supervision by the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure contributed in no small measure to the progress recorded on the projects.

In his contribution, the Baale of Ogolonto, Chief Yekini Fatola, implored the contractors to deliver on the drainage outfall sections before the rains in order to prevent seasonal flash flooding experienced by communities along the road.

Other major ongoing road rehabilitation projects inspected by the team include the Igbogbo-Bola Ahmed Tinubu - Igbe Road and the Owutu-Agric-Isawo Road in Ikorodu.
