Governor Makinde Issues New Update On Sunday Igboho After Meeting With CP Ngozi, Other Stakeholders.

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has given new updates on the security situation of the state after meeting with the new Commissioner for Police, CP Ngozi Onadeko, and representative of Ibarapa people at the statehouse in Ibadan.

In a statement released on his Twitter handle on Wednesday morning, Governor Seyi Makinde revealed the new security strategy of the state after the stakeholder's meeting.

Some of the strategies are the deployment of additional Amotekun Officers to Ibarapa and Oke Ogun, Continuous dialogue with stakeholders, Registration of foreigners in the area, and Enforcement of existing laws.

There is currently a crisis between Fulani and Yoruba in Oyo State, the crisis started after Chief Sunday Igboho gave the Fulani people in Ibarapa land seven days ultimatum to vacate the area. Hoodlums in the area later set ablaze the house of Seriki Fulani in the area on Friday.

The Inspector-General of Police, Adamu Mohammed, ordered the arrest of Sunday Igboho and others involved in the violence on Friday. The house of Chief Sunday Igboho in Ibadan was also set ablaze by unknown arsonists on Tuesday morning.

With the new updates given by Governor Seyi Makinde, Chief Sunday Igboho might not be arrested by the police. The Governor will be meeting with stakeholders to resolve the issue amicably.
