In line with the State Agricultural Agenda of Food Security and Job Creation, through Strategic Partnerships, the Executive Governor of Ogun State, His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, MFR, has commissioned the Obasanjo Farms “Agbeloba” Aquaculture Hub at Owiwi, Adigbe and Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Tuesday, 29th December 2020. Former President and Visioner of this Aquaculture Value Chain Development Initiative, His Excellency, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, was present at the event.

Facilities at the newly commissioned Aquaculture hub include Fish Processing Facilities, Fish Cage Culture, Earthen Ponds, Fish Pelleting Mill and Smoking Units. These facilities will create multiple Agricultural/Aquaculture value chain opportunities, and redefine Aquaculture, Agriculture, Industrialization, Nutrition, Fish Security, Food Security and Job Creation in Ogun State, Nigeria and the World at large. These Infrastructures will open up opportunities for further collaboration with Ogun State Government, in the area of attracting young people to Agriculture.

Governor Dapo Abiodun stated that the State Government will repeat the outstanding feats achieved in the Ogun Broiler Project, in Aquaculture opportunities, to further expose Ogun youths to potential wealth and prosperity inherent in Aquaculture value chains. Free supplementary extension/advisory services and support would also be provided to investors and other value chain players, including youth trainees, to ensure high productivity and profitability.

He also assured Agricultural stakeholders that the State Government will continue to provide the enabling environment, infrastructural support, smart policy guidelines and appropriate linkage with the Federal Government and International Agencies, to support Agricultural Investments, Job Creation and Food Security (and now Fish Security) activities in Ogun State.
