Members of the Ogun State House of Assembly have considered the 2021 proposals of the State Ministries of Agriculture and Forestry, with commendations to the Commissioners in charge of the ministries, Dr. Adeola Odedina and Tunji Akinosi respectively for recording performances in their revenue drives in outgoing year.
The lawmakers including the Chairman, House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Kunle Sobunkanla, Deputy Majority Leader, Abdul Bashir Oladunjoye, Chief Whip, Tinuke Bello and Chairman, House Committee on Agriculture and Forestry, Sylvester Abiodun and Adegoke Adeyanju gave the commendation at the ongoing 2021 budget defence held at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
The Commissioners were lauded for deploying innovative ideas towards driving their respective Ministries in the outgoing year, tasking them not to rest on their oars in the next fiscal year as the Ministries were pivotal to food security, as well as socio-economic development of the State.
Giving the budget breakdown of the Ministry of Agriculture, Odedina stated that the Ministry had a total budget size of N4.49bn for next year, out of which N3.31bn was set aside for capital expenditure, with N1.18bn for recurrent, while revenue target was fixed at N212.1m for the next fiscal year.
On his part, the State Commissioner for Forestry presented a total budget of N1.69bn for the next fiscal year, which comprised of N1.07bn for capital projects with recurrent having N620m and N249.6m as the expected revenue target for next year.
The lawmakers also appraised the 2021 budget proposal of the Cassava Revolution Programme, Agro Service Corporation, Agriculture Development Corporation, State Agricultural Development Programme, Forestry Plantation Project, Area J4, Office of the Auditors-General for State and Local Government amongst others.
