GOVERNOR DAPO ABIODUN OFFICIALLY HANDS OVER 54,000 BROILER BIRDS TO OFFTAKER AT THE CLOSING/OFFTAKE CEREMONY OF THE THIRD (FINAL) CYCLE OF THE PILOT OGUN BROILER PROJECT
His Excellency, Prince (Dr.) Dapo Abiodun MFR, officially handed over 54,000 broiler birds to the offtaker at the hand over and Closing/Offtake Ceremony of the third (final) cycle of the pilot Ogun Broiler Project, which was held today, 8th October 2020 at the Odeda Farm Institute , Odeda LGA of Ogun State.
Ogun Broiler Empowerment Project is a flagship project of Ogun State Government aimed at stimulating interest and creating source of sustainable livelihood for young farmers and other categories of Agripreneurs. The State Government has stated its readiness to replicate the project in the entire 20 LGAs of the State.
The Pilot phase employed 54 beneficiaries who were empowered with 1000 birds each per cycle of six weeks. The pilot phase which commenced in December 2019, ran for 3 cycles (six weeks per cycle) and culminated in the graduation/closing ceremony that was held today. The Pilot Ogun Broiler Project was a huge success as beneficiaries made record breaking achievements of profit (N150,000 per cycle per beneficiary), minimum mortality rate and good feed conversion rate.
Dignitaries at the event included the Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Her Excellency, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele; Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Adeola Odedina; Permanent Secretary, Ogun State Ministry of Agriculture; Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Agriculture; Director Livestock Services; Representatives of the Offtaker- Amobyn Nigeria Limited; Representatives of Financial Anchor- Sterling Bank; Chairman, Odeda Local Government, House of Assembly Member representing Odeda Constituency
