On behalf of His Excellency, Prince (Dr.) Dapo Abiodun, MFR and the entire good people of Ogun State, we hereby rejoice with Israel Adesanya, an Ogun State/ Nigerian-born New Zealand professional mixed martial artist on his recent victory over Paulo Costa to win the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) 253 middleweight championship.

According to the press statement signed by Signed Dr. Oluwadare Kehinde(Hacco)
Ogun State Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports, His emergence as the CHAMPION goes to reaffirm the fact that our dear State is truly blessed with exceptional individuals in different areas of human endeavours.

We are not in doubt that as an UFC Middleweight Champion with an undefeated record of 20 wins and no losses, he will continue to make the State and the Nation Proud. In kickboxing, Israel Adesanya is the former Glory middleweight contender winner and King in the Ring two-time cruiserweight and heavyweight champion. As of 24 May 2020, he is #4 in the UFC men's pound-for-pound ranking.

For us at the Ogun State Ministry of Youth and Sports, we are very proud of his exceptional achievements and wish him more professional victory and glory.

We again encourage all Ogun Youths to keep striving, focused and determined in order to continually set the pace for other Youths of the Federation to follow.

Hearty Congratulations, Mr. Israel Adesanya!
