The Federal Medical Centre, Idi-Aba,  Abeokuta has again recorded an outstanding landmark as it prepares to become the first FMC in the Country to boast of Radiotherapy services.

Hitherto, only six teaching hospitals in the country have facilities for radiotherapy health care services.

Speaking at the event, Prof. Musa-Olomu bemoaned the agony and sufferings cancer patients often undergo due to the  limited  health institutions in the Country with radiotherapy services  that would have cushioned their pains.

The Medical Director was optimistic that when completed, the radiotherapy project " will improve the quality of lives of our cancer patients.
"We want a situation where those who will die to die peacefully instead of experiencing pains before their death."

Speaking further, the Medical Director remarked that Nigeria was moving towards a situation where  medical tourism will gradually become a thing of the past.

Besides the radiotherapy project, the Medical Director disclosed that arrangements were being concluded for the establishment of an International Cardiac Centre in the hospital.

He also hinted that the full computerization of the hospital services system will take off within the next two weeks.

The union leaders who spoke at the brief but colourful event saluted the visionary leadership of the Medical Director and his relentless efforts to totally transform the Centre in a way at making it a pride of all.
