Abeokuta - The So-Safe Corps has said it arrested suspected kidnapping syndicate terrorising Ijohun community, Yewa South local government in Ogun state.
According to ACC Moruf Yusuf,
Director of Information and Public Relations, at about 23:4500hrs a gang of suspected kidnappers numbering four embarked on dastardly kidnap mission as they hit Ijohun Town which is located at Yewa North Local Government.
The kidnap suspects who came on two (2) Bajaj motorbikes to the town succeeded in the kidnap of one Mrs Fagbohun Maria aged 30 together with a baby she was backing in the presence of her mother .
The victim mother while trying to alert the residents in the Community and crying for help was shot and died on the spot .
The So-Safe Corps Ketu Division Special Squad of the Corps on routine patrol was instructed by the State Commander of the Corps Commander Soji Ganzallo to spring into action and get the culprits apprehended.
The gallantry effort of the officers of the Corps rendered the suspected kidnappers operation destabilized .
Meanwhile , the victims ( a woman and her kid) were rescued unhurt and one of the kidnap suspect Mr Jimoh Fayemi was apprehended with three (3) locally made pistols and two (2) Bajaj Motorbikes recovered from the suspects.
Effort is on going to capture the rest members of the gang that perpetrated the dastardly act .
The apprehended suspect along with the exhibit recovered ( 3 locally made pistols and 2 unregistered Bajaj Motorbikes ) have been handed over to the Nigeria Police Eegua Divisional Police Headquarters for further investigation and likely prosecution .
