Governor, Dapo Abiodun Appoints Iyeru As Parks Manager

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has appointed a top notch of the state chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Alhaji Akeem Bodunrin, popularly known as Iyeru as Parks and Garages Manager in the state.
It will be recalled that the state house of assembly recently passed a resolution suspending the activities of the NURTW in the Gateway State.

The appointment of Iyeru as Parks Manager for the state was contained in a letter issued by the Ogun State Parks And Garages Development Board (PAGADEB) dated 19th June, 2020.

The letter, with reference number PAGADEB/003/V111/8 and entitled; “Engagement As State Parks And Garages Manager” was signed by the Director of Administration & Strategy in the Board, Mr. Babatunde A.O on behalf of the General Manager.

“I refer to the recent State House of Assembly resolution suspending the activities of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in the state and our meeting of Tuesday 16th June, 2020 at which we discussed on your potential role as Parks Manager for Parks and Garages Development Board in all the twenty (20) Local Government Areas of Ogun State.

“Please, find below the Terms of Reference for the Ministry of Transportation appointed Manager and Operator of Ogun State Parks and Garages Development Board,” the letter read.
It was added in the letter that the terms of engagement as State Parks and Garages Manager included, but not limited to coordination and collection of revenue within the parks and garages and “ensure prompt remittance of same to the State Government coffers on weekly basis.”

The Parks and Garages Manager was further directed to ensure submission of payment to Ogun State Parks and Garages Development Board of which an account has been opened at the First City Monument Bank (FCMB).

The Parks Manager would also ensure that there is no breach of law during his operation week within the Parks and Garages.

“Ensure that safety of commuters, passengers and users of these parks and garages is paramount in your operations.
“Ensure that Passenger Manifests are properly kept on a daily basis. Ensure harmonious working relation with all operators and users within the Parks and Garages.

“Curb unwholesome and immoral behaviour within the parks and garages such as touting for passengers, abuse of drugs and sale and use of alcoholic drinks among others,” Babatunde stated in the letter.

The Parks and Garages Manager was also instructed to ensure that no illegal structure is erected within the parks and garages, adding that all conflicts within the parks and garages should be reported as soon as possible to the Agency for resolution.

It was added in the latter that the Parks Manager should “ensure submission of comprehensive weekly report of activities during your operation week to this Agency, failure to submit will attract appropriate disciplinary action.”

He was also directed to proof his competence on the assignment through engagement of professional hands vis-à-vis the engagement of Human Resources Manager, Accountants, Legal Advisers, Transport Planning Advisers and other relevant professionals in the discharge of his activities.
