Founder and General overseer of Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministry, MFM, Pastor D.K Olukoya has currently been taken up over his stance on the celebration of Christmas by christians across the world.
The fire brand man of God who presided over one of the most populous churches in Nigeria does not believe in December 25th as the birthday of Jesus Christ and by so doing, he has no reason to observe the date in his church and its binding on his members.
Olukoya gave the disclosure at their Wednesday programme, Holy Manner which also coincided with Christmas day.
He said: "if you really study the Bible from Genesis to revelation, there is no word like Christmas. The Bible only recorded that the Sheppards were taking care of their flocks during a very cold season when they sighted the star that announced the birth of Christ. This cold period could be around April or May."
He also went further to state that the church has decided to engage members in various spiritual activities on such periods and other public holidays to discourage them from partaking in such an unscriptural celebration.
But rather than producing a thoughtful reasoning, the analysis simply sparked off criticisms and nocks for the man of God on social media.
Chief among those who disagreed with Olukoya's assertion was the founder and president of Mount Zion Drama ministry, Evangelist Mike Bamiloye who stated that he did not care if Jesus was born on December 25th or not.
"Which day was cancer born? Yet, the world give cancer a date to celebrate as the World Cancer Day. Which day was diabetics born to earn it a world diabetics day? Which day was children born before we began to celebrate children day?
Which day was world Girl child? Which day was Aids born? Which day was Father born that we now celebrate world Father day? You never disagree on any of the chosen date by the United Nation dedicated to celebrate diseases and infirmities.
It is share ignorance and knowledgeness to make a man argue dedicating a day to celebrate the creator of heaven and the earth." Bamiloye wrote on his page in his Christmas message to fans and followers.
Pastor Olukoya however was not the only Nigerian man of God that do not believe in the celebration of Christmas. Others like Pastor Kumuyi of Deeper life Bible Church, Seven Days Adventist Church also toe this path but with different analogies.
This conflicting doctrines set-up by church leaders were argued to have been the basis of discouragement for many christians from committing themselves to the service of God.
