Ja’afaru Illiyasu, a member of the Nigeria's House of Representatives, has been reported dead.

The lawmaker until his death Monday morning was representing Magama/Rijau Federal Constituency of Niger State.

He was said to have died in his sleep today according to his associate who craved annonymity.

While the House of Representatives leadership is yet to release any statement, a source claimed Hon. Illiyasu, a first term lawmaker, had only returned from Lagos State Sunday evening that he slept peaceful but breathed his last breath a day after.

He said: “He came back from Lagos last night, went to sleep but did not wake up.”

His death remains unofficial until the Green Chamber leadership or his family members issue a statement in respect of the incident. Efforts to retrieve a reaction from the spokesperson of the House of Representatives proved abortive.

The spokesperson of the House, Benjamin Kalu, did not respond to calls or text messages when contacted.

May his soul rest in peace.
