New media aide to president Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmad has tendered an apology after he was caught sharing an information that seemed to have misinformed the general public.
It relates to a report that the Kaduna State command of the Nigeria Police were involved in the rescue of three students of the Ahmadu Bello University, ABU, Zaria, who ere kidnapped along the Kaduna Abuja Expressway.
He shared the news of their rescue – with Police involvement – published by Nigerian daily, The Nation. But quickly took it down and apologized after the families of the victims confirmed there was no police involvement in the rescue of the victims.
“I have taken down this tweet. Relatives and one of the victims confirmed that there’s no police involvement in the process that lead to their release. Got the info first from NAN, mins later some n’papers carried it, too bad. was trying to take credit. I apologize for sharing it.”He tweeted.
