The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu has applauded the decision of the German authority for labelling as “non-criminal” the attack on the former Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu in Germany.

In one of the video clips, two German security personnel were seen taking pictures of the incidence before the lawmaker was driven away after his clothing which Nigerian coat of arm was torn by the angry mob.
The Nigerian embassy in Germany, which reacted to the attack had issued a statement that the attackers would be brought to justice in accordance with German law.
The statement specifically stated that if found guilty, the attackers could be charged for physical assault, which is punishable by fines or imprisonment of up to 10 years, “The Embassy has requested a thorough investigation of this attack with a view to identifying the perpetrators and bringing them swiftly to justice in accordance with German law” so as to deter others from engaging in such “ridiculous act.”
Also, the Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa a few hours after the incident had claimed saying, “some of the culprits who perpetrated the act have been apprehended and we call on the German government and law enforcement agencies to ensure that there are consequences for their actions.”
Reacting swiftly, the Press Officer of Nuremberg Police, Rainer Seebauer, was quoted as saying that what transpired at the event was a protest, laying to rest the possibility of bringing the perpetrators to justice.
