Instagram models like Gigi Hadid, Maddison Beer and Kaia Gerber are some of the most popular people on social media, and now, they are using their positions of influence to educate young people on the dangers of social media.
On the occasional selfie, you will notice a particular phone case which has the hard-hitting inscription at the back. Take a look at an example below:
Scientists have found that prolonged social media use can lead to depression and loneliness; constantly seeking approval from others is certainly not healthy.
The $35 cases were released in 2017 by Urban Sophistication, a clothes and accessories seller, and this particular case is popular among social media models and influencers.
Some models, like Christina D’Alessandro and Petra Vukotic have spoken of the negative effects of social media on them.
“It’s just a constant reminder on my stories that we just do it for the likes. I look at it as a reminder for me that the likes and social media are a drug. It’s addictive. It’s a form of validation that we are worthwhile.” Vukotic said.
“Even though I would get all of these compliments …at the end of the day I felt alone,” D’Alessandro revealed honestly.
Social media can have its benefits but if we don’t put it in its right place, it can easily turn into an addiction.
