There has been a little drama with Olamide, Lyta and the whole YBNL in recent times.
Olamide unfollowed the musician, Lyta on social media while giving the artist permission to leave YBNL.
Per YBNL, there is a scheduled calendar that is followed in order to make sure the artists under the record label get equal attention, but it seems the schedule didn’t go down well with Lyta.
Olamide explained that if the spotlight is placed on one artist under a record label then other artists would definitely be deprived of the growth they need and could frustrate other artists under the label.
Olamide clarified that since Lyta made the tracks ‘Self Made’ and ‘Time’ in the year 2018, it’s time for another artist to also thrive and that’s the only way record label could grow.
Lyta during a recent interview debunked the report that he is signed under YBNL.
Lyta in the interview said, “I don’t have any deal with YBNL and Olamide. Olamide saw me on the street and helped me. I don’t have any written contract with him and I don’t know about other artists. YBNL and Olamide will always be part of my story. God bless Olamide, Thank you for everything.”
Lyta added that although he wasn’t signed to the label, he was paid his benefits; 50, 60k, 80, but when he dropped his songs “Time” and “Selfmade”, he didn’t get anything.
In response to this, a representative of YBNL said “ How can he say he doesn’t know if he got any benefits from YBNL? This is someone who we shot two videos for and gave him all the freedom he needs to do what he wants. I mean, there are sometimes he would go for shows that his management does not know about and when we ask, he will give excuses that he grew up with that person and so on and so forth.”
Speaking about how he left YBNL, Lyta said;
“Yes, so many people have been calling me about signing me, but I didn’t think it’s necessary for me to go until my dad called me … that there’s this guy disturbing him that he wanted to sponsor my music. He now said, can I give Olamide his number so he can talk to Olamide. I now say Okay and messaged Olamide that my dad wants to talk to him. I didn’t tell him that someone wants to sign me. He said I should go and find out. So I told my dad and my dad said okay, tell him that someone wants to sponsor your music maybe he will accept. When I sent him the message, Olamide just said: “if that’s best, I wish you good luck”. I was like whao! I don’t know what to reply, Wish you good luck liken how. I just said thank you sir”
While speaking about his time with YBNL, he stated that he hasn’t released a song even though he has recorded songs with YBNL.
“For the past few months now I am not doing anything. No music for my fans… everybody has been commenting, you’re not doing anything, you’re only changing hairstyle up and down, I’m depressed, I’m tired.”
He specified that he needs to release more songs for his fans because he isn’t a star yet who drops one and wait for a long time before he drops another.
On unfollowing Lyta on Instagram, the YBNL Boss explained that Lyta went about saying untrue things about him.

Per Olamide, “If you know me too well, you will know I don’t want Negative energy or bad vibes around me. Bad energy or pity face affects me badly and I can’t help but scrutinize my page to avoid any issue.”
When asked if LYTA needed to apologise to YBNL, the representative said “Apologize? No. who did he offend? Na small boy dey worry am. He just needs to stop tarnishing the image of another man. He needs to move on with his life. Things aren’t done the way he is doing it. Karma is real. He needs knowledge, wisdom, patience and most importantly prayer and not this public sympathy he is looking for up and down.”
