Ogun Poll: Tribunal To Rule on Sanyaolu , Labour Party's Missing on Ballot Papers Motion on June 10.

The 2019 Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abeokuta on Monday has fixed 10th of June , 2019 for the ruling session of the petitions filed by the Governorship Candidate of the Labour Party, Chief Mrs Modupeola Sanyaolu.

Sanyaolu, filled the petition earlier through the Labour Party chairman, Comrade Arabambi Abayomi against the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC for excluding her and other candidates of the party from the ballot papers used during the March 9th 2019 governorship election in Ogun State.

The counsel to the All Progressive Congress, Barr. Habeeb Wale Ajayi argued extensively with that of the Labour Party, Balogun Hassan on reasons why the petition of Labour Party should be dismissed based on lack of competence.

Habeeb, argued for hours with Balogun Hassan saying the petition Labour Party filled before the tribunal was a pre-election matters, while Balogun defended the petition to be post-election matters with evidences despite the fact that Habeeb claimed the Labour Party had no governorship running mate but Hassan proved with evidences.

Meanwhile, the legal counsel to Prince Dapo Abiodun, Prof Taiwo Osipitan admitted that INEC was wrong by not including the Labour Party in the ballot papers but he faulted them for not approaching the court 14 days after the denial of access to perform their electoral duties by INEC.

Also, Silvester Tidus, defendant of Independent National Electoral Commission INEC and Residential Commissioner of INEC pleas before the tribunal to step aside the Labour party's petition based on lack of locus standing was thrown out while the tribunal adopted the petitions for stay of proceedings.

At the hearing which held in at the Ogun State High Court, all lawyers representing parties in the matter were called upon to identify the petitions and applications filed.

The Chairman of the tribunal , Justice A A Halilu adjourned the motion after counsel to Independent National Electoral Commission , Silvester Tidus , that of Dapo Abiodun , Prof. Taiwo Osipitan , SAN and the All Progressives Congress ’, Wale Habeeb Ajayi objected to the motion.

Justice Halilu had adjourned to June 10 , 2019 to allow the three respondents in the petition , Governor - Elect , Dapo Abiodun , APC and INEC to file their responses .

The court room was filled up to the brim with lawyers, INEC officials and journalists.

Amebo Online Newspaper observed that sitting arrangements were made outside the courtroom for observers of the process.
