The 8th House of Assembly in Ogun state has today amended a bill that calls for the suspension of some political appointees which include all local governments political office holders, dissolution of the boards of all statutory commissions and parastatals and the review of Baales that were promoted to become Obas over series of petitions written to the House.
The House also took the decision to dissolve all the boards of all statutory commissions and parastatals based on the facts that they have been paid their severance allowances, and severance allowances means that an end of tenure is acknowledged.
The review of Baales that were promoted to become Obas is also known to have so many aberrations offending the Chieftaincy Laws of Ogun state and also offending the various traditional rites in many of the localities affected.
The Assembly took this decision while amending the Review of Irregularities Law (2011) to include some certain decisions taken by the administration of Amosun in 2019. About five aspects of that law were lifted.
The copy of the resolutions which was made available to our correspondent has the followings:
1. The appointments into the State Civil Service.
2. The appointments into the various state tertiary institutions governing councils.
3. The appointments of some Obas.
4. The appointments of certain people within the state into one position or the other.
5. The appointments of permanent secretaries and general managers.
However, the Assembly met a two-third majority, which is compulsory before such decisions could be taken. In attendance were twenty members of the Assembly (including the speaker).
Subsequently, the assembly has invited those political office holders at the LG levels to come to the house on the 7th of June, 2019.
These decisions were all overwhelmingly supported and the house directed that a clean copy of amendment to the bill be sent to the governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for his assent.
