Godiya promises inclusive legislation

Mr Godiya Akwashiki, the All Progressives Congress (APC) senator-elect for Nasarawa North, has promised an all inclusive legislation for national development.


Akwashiki made the promise on Thursday while speaking with newsmen after receiving his Certificate of Return as senator-elect from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abuja.

He is currently the Deputy Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly.
Akwashiki dedicated his victory at the poll to God and the people of the senatorial district who voted for him on Feb. 23.

The lawmaker, who is representing Nasarawa Eggon West state constituency, appreciated his campaign council, supporters and other well wishers who came to celebrate with him.

Akwashiki assured his constituents of pursuing people oriented laws at the National Assembly.

He promised not to fail the people of the senatorial district when finally sworn-in.

Besides, the senator-elect congratulated other All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates who won their elections during the Presidential and National Assembly as well as the Governorship and State House of Assembly elections.

“What my constituents have seen from 2011 to date is just a tip of the iceberg. I will do more and they will see a lot of positive changes.

“First and foremost, I want to commend the people of Nasarawa North senatorial district for voting massively for me on Feb 23.

“I want to assure the people of the senatorial district of inclusive, effective, sound and quality representation in order to bring the much needed dividends of democracy to their door steps.

“I will also initiate more people’s oriented projects so as to change the lives of the people of the senatorial district and other Nigerians positively,” he said.

Akwashiki solicited for prayers and support of Nigerians to enable the ninth National Assembly to succeed.

He commended INEC for conducting free, air and credible elections and called for its sustenance.

The senator-elect further urged Nigerians to live peacefully with one another, be law abiding and respect constituted authorities in the interest of development.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that INEC declared Akwashiki winner after polling 54,104 votes to defeat the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, John Abdul, who scored 48,133 votes. (NAN)
