INEC IS READY
INEC has declared its readiness to conduct the presidential and National Assembly elections on Saturday. The chairman of the commission, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, disclosed this Friday at a press conference in Abuja, where he gave update on the commission’s preparedness. He however said that PVC remains the only means by which voters could vote in the elections, adding, “No genuine PVC, no voting“. Yakubu also warned that any underage voter trying to vote on the election day would be arrested by the security agencies.
OBSERVERS SHOW SUPPORT
Head of the ECOWAS Election Observetion Mission (EOM), former Liberia’s President, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, has urged Nigerians, particularly the political class, to sustain the peace that characterised the postponement of the Presidential and National Assembly elections and also conduct themselves according to the laws of the land as they go to the polls Saturday. Johnson-Sirleaf has assured Nigerians of the support of the entire African nations as the country goes to the poll to elect a new leader for the next four years
BUHARI ARRIVES DAURA
President Muhammadu Buhari has arrived, Daura his hometown of Katsina state for tomorrow’s presidential and national assembly elections. Buhari landed at the helipad in GRA area of Daura around 4.05pm via a chopper from Katsina state. The president and his wife Aisha had landed at the Umaru Yar’adua airport Katsina at around 3:25pm from Abuja with presidential aircraft. At the Katsina airport, Governor Aminu Masari and other personalities in the state received the president. Buhari left the Katsina airport 3.49pm for Daura.
TINUBU DENIES ALLEGATIONS
Tinubu, has condemned a report linking him with a company called Act Technologies Limited. The company had been accused of involvement in rigging the 2015 general elections in Nigeria. “Asiwaju has absolutely no relation to, or interest in, Act Technologies Limited”, “He had never even heard of the company until the PDP (and its cronies in the media) started this campaign of calumny a few days ago. “Moreover, Asiwaju has never been involved in the supply of card readers, voter registration and accreditation frameworks"
