The remains of late king of comedy and cultural ambassador, Moses Olaiya Adejumo was brought to Oyo State for a lying-in-state ceremony today at the Cultural Center in Ibadan.The event was attended by his colleageus, family and friends including Pa Lere Paimo, Dele Odule, Peju Ogunmola, Tubosun Odunsi, Aderupoko and others while the Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi was represented by the state’s Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Toye Arulogun.
The family of the veteran comedian Senior Elder Apostle Dr. Moses Olaiya Adejumo, popularly known as Baba Sala has released the programme of activities for the burial. It would be recalled that the late Adejumo, a Member of the Order of the Niger (MON), comedian, dramatist and actor died on Oct. 7 at 81 in Ilesa, Osun State. Osinbajo, Ambode to grace Akinwunmi’s book launch His body has since been deposited at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex Annex, (Wesley Guild Hospital) in Ilesa.
The activities which are slated to hold between November 28 and December 7, 2018, would begin with a symposium and public lecture at the National Theatre, Iganmu, Lagos. This would be followed by a mega music concert at the Blue Roof, Lagos Televsion (LTV). Many artistes and entertainers are expected to grace the event.
On December 5, the body will lie in state at the Cultural Centre, Ibadan, Oyo State, while a service of song is scheduled to hold at the Sacred Cherubim & Seraphim Church, Idasa Parish, Ilesa, Osun State. On December 6, there will be a Christian wake-keep/artiste night at his residence, followed by internment at the Sacred Cherium & Seraphim Church, Idasa Parish, Ilesa, Osun State.
The late Adejumo, a member of the Order of the Niger (MON), comedian, dramatist and actor died on October 7, in Ilesa, Osun State. He was aged 81. For the renowned father of Nigerian comedy, Moses Olaiya better known by his stage name ‘Baba Sala’, life was a mix of interesting variables. Born on May 18, 1936 in Ilesha, Osun State, Baba Sala started acting at a very young age and enjoyed an illustrious career that saw him touring different parts of Nigeria. During his 82 years on earth, the comedian was married to 18 wives and had about 50 children.
