Man Utd news: Ed Woodward puts Paul Pogba on list of FOUR players too important to sell

MANCHESTER UNITED chief Ed Woodward reportedly thinks Paul Pogba is among four players the club cannot afford to lose.

Manchester United chief Woodward granted Pogba his wish earlier this month by sacking Jose Mourinho.

Mourinho had constantly been at war with the France international with their ongoing feud damaging the club’s hopes of a successful Premier League season.

As a result, Manchester United opted to get rid of Mourinho and place Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, a man who managed Pogba while the player was in the reserves, in charge instead.

Solskjaer has already seen Pogba return to form in recent times, helping ignite hopes the club could yet finish in the top four.

The World Cup winner registered four assists in their 5-1 win over Cardiff last weekend.

And he followed that up with a stunning brace in the 3-1 victory over Huddersfield on Boxing Day.

Paul Pogba has been linked with moves to Barcelona and Juventus in recent times.

But the Telegraph say Woodward has no plans to let the 25-year-old depart.

In fact, Pogba is one of four players who the United hierarchy believe is too important to let go.

Anthony Martial is another player deemed pivotal.

The France international, like Pogba, often found himself struggling to get into Mourinho’s starting line-ups.

But the talent he possesses is obvious and, given his improved performances this season, a contract extension beckons.

Marcus Rashford is also on Woodward’s list of untouchables.

The England international spent much of his time under Mourinho shunted out wide with the former United boss instead often deploying Romelu Lukaku up front.

And he has also kicked on under Solskjaer, scoring against Cardiff and catching the eye against Huddersfield.

The Telegraph name Jesse Lingard as the final player Woodward would be reluctant to let go.

And the United chief also believes Lingard, Pogba, Martial and Rashford can ‘provide the team’s attacking fulcrum for years to come.’
