Kaduna State gubernatorial aspirant in the 2015 election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) MOHAMMED ISA ASHIRU has dumped the party, saying the party lacks cohesion and internal party democracy among other reasons.
In a letter personally signed by him and addressed to the chairman of APC in his ward, Kudan ward in Kudan local government area and copied the state APC Chairman, he averred that when he joined the party in 2014, he thought it was a movement for change but met otherwise and had to retrace his footsteps.
Although he did not state which party he is joining, it was however gathered that he may be returning to his initial party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in view of the fact that his campaign director general in the 2015 election when he vied for governorship, Ambassador Sule Buba, also dumped the APC recently and returned to the PDP.
According to him, “When I picked my APC membership card with Reg noKAD/KUD/01000001 dated on 12/2/2014 from your good office, I honestly believed that I was joining a movement that would passionately change for good, not only the way we play politics in our state, but also our people’s perception of it.
“This explains why even after my successful attempt to fly the party’s flag at the 2015 gubernatorial election, my supporters and I gave our supports to ensure the success of the party at the polls.
“Believing that in the short, medium and long terms, not only would
our contributions be acknowledged and appreciated but more
importantly, the interest and welfare of the people of Kaduna State
would occupy the front burner of the government to be formed.
“Sadly however, it’s on record that after all the contributions that
my associates and I made towards the growth of the party, as well as
the success at the polls, we have, till date, not been recognised as
true party members.
