Ordinarily, today should elicit feelings of joy from all & sundry
We should have good memories of our democratic freedom from the dark days of military rule during we were denied our fundamental human rights as a people.
Today, our rights to expression of opinion,
our rights of association,
our rights to aspire to a good life is gradually being denied us again.
While the government of the day systematically hounds opposition to jail and second tier of government appears to derive joy in treating its people without compassion; failing to provide social amenities & depriving the next generation of quality education & jobs and so on
We are in times of regression.
We are hopeful that true democracy will help to halt this regression and return us to a path of prosperity and unity as a nation.
We all have a part to play by ensuring we get our voters cards and we vote in the elections to institute good governance for ourselves and for coming generations
