"Democracy is representation. No more no less. It is imperative on the leaders of a democratic society to represent only the interest of the people" - Hon. Kayode Sogbetun
Just like the average Nigerian, who is yet to benefit anything good from the unpleasant governance we've been experiencing in the country since the late 1960s, I truly wish the Democracy Day celebration are truly worth the brouhaha. Why? Because many of us are disappointed with the manner in which our democratically elected officials run the show. It has not been too good.
Although, some people have paid dearly and sacrificed so that the Nigerian people can truly have people to represent their interest to foster the growth and development of the nation and uplift the people from the oppression poverty brings. Alas, Nigerians have now become poorer.
Unfortunately, we all focus on the democratically elected officials in the executive arm without a critical perusal of the dynamics of the legislature; where the shots are called and where all the power of representation truly lies. This is why we elect docile and inactive members of the House of Assembly, Reps and Senators. There is an indispensable need for us to have a sensible, pragmatic and truly representative legislature as this is the surest means to effective and beneficial democracy.
This is why I, Hon. Kayode Sogbetun, principal partner of Kayode Sogbetun and Co have decided to give the good people Remo Federal Constituency a chance for true representation by *aspiring to be a member of the House of Representatives for Remo Federal Constituency.*
Kayode Sogbetun is a name synonymous with integrity, hard work and inesteemable values because I strongly believe that no society can rise above the values of her ruling elite.
On this note and in commemoration of the Democracy Day celebrations, I wish Nigerians all the best and implore us to be law abiding, shun violence and get your PVC now!
The time for a better Nigeria is now.
