Kogi monarch condemn violence, killing of youths

Kogi state Council of Chiefs has condemned the violence alleged to have been masterminded by high profile politicians on Monday this week that led to the death of some youths in Lokoja the state capital.
The Attah Igala and president the state Council of Chiefs, His Royal Majesty Michael Idakwo Ameh Oboni, who made the condemnation on Thursday while addressing the meeting of the council at the chambers of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, noted with bitter grief that such actions are capable of distracting the government from its set objectives.
The traditional ruler who regretted that politicians in the state have abandoned their roles as defenders of the interests of the people to selfishness, warned that un necessary acrimony will retard the state and scare away people of goodwill from investing in the state.
He advised the governor to remain focused while executing his peoples oriented programmes, assuring that the traditional rulers and their subjects are firmly behind him.
Also contributing the Ohinoyi of Ebira land and vice President of the Council of Chiefs said it is unfortunate that some people especially politicians entrusted with powers of making laws have turned to be law breakers and unreliable.
The traditional rulers therefore urged the governor to ignore all distractions by those seeking attention and concentrate on the new direction programme of the administration.

The Chiefs therefore advised the governor to carry all the people along through there. traditional rulers so as to involve the entire state in the running of the government.
Special Adviser to governor Yahaya Bello on local government and chieftaincy affairs Engineer Abubakar Ohere in his key note address assured the royal fathers that the government is committed to their welfare and accord them due respect they deserve as the custodians of the culture.
Others used the occasion to exonerate the Yahaya Bello Administration of the wrong and illegal appointments of some traditional rulers that were made when the immediate past government was parking.
He hinted that the present government will review the cases to ensure justice, equity and fair play assuring that the era of imposition of leaders on communities is over
The Special Adviser pointed out that to prove its seriousness the 13 newly appointed traditional rulers by the present administration passed through due process and consequently approved by the governor.
Also speaking at the meeting the Director General Media and Publicity Kingsley Fanwo enumerated the achievements of the Administration since assumption of office which include road networks across the three senatorial districts, rehabilitation of decayed infrastructure and enforcement of security and flushing out of criminals from the state.
Fanwo explained that insecurity was a major concern of the people of the state before the advent of the Bello regime, but both residents and visitors now move freely within and around the state without molestation.
