Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, Thursday allocated 1,050 malls, lock-up shops, stalls and neighbourhood market built by the state government to traders.
The projects, located at Laderin Workers Estate, Itoku, Sapon, Isale Igbein and Omida areas of Abeokuta, the state capital, were handed over to traders whose shops were demolished for the construction of ultra modern shopping malls.
The allocation was done one year after President Muhammadu Buhari inaugurated the projects as part of the activities commemorating the 40th anniversary of the creation of the state.
Amosun, while speaking at the allocation ceremony in Omida, said the state government delayed the exercise in order to construct mini lock-up shops and stalls for petty traders.
The governor stated that the projects were equipped with state-of-the-art facilities such as lifts and escalators, power supply and parking lot.
He disclosed that the shops were for outright sale but with flexible payment plan which could be spread over a period of one or two years.
Amosun, who described the projects embarked upon by his administration as people-oriented, said contractors handling ongoing projects have also been remobilised and were now back on site.
