The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has resolved to adopt the direct primary method for electing the party’s presidential candidate.

The decision means all registered APC members nationwide will have the opportunity to directly vote in the primary election, rather than using delegates.

This mode of primary is often viewed as more democratic and transparent, though it is usually more expensive and logistically demanding for the party.

The NWC’s choice sets the stage for how the APC will select its flagbearer ahead of the next presidential election. Further details on the timeline and guidelines for the primary are expected to be released soon.

The announcement comes as the ruling party begins early preparations for future polls.
