OGIJO, OGUN STATE – In a significant move toward bolstering local commerce and economic infrastructure, the leadership of Sagamu Local Government carried out an intensive on-site inspection of the Alaba Ultra-Modern Market in Ogijo today, Wednesday, April 1, 2026.
The inspection, led by the Executive Chairman alongside members of the executive cabinet and the Head of Local Government Administration (HOLGA), was aimed at evaluating the pace and quality of construction currently underway for the second phase of the market’s development.

The ongoing project, which features a strategic mix of modern lock-up shops and open-stall facilities, is designed to provide traders and entrepreneurs in the Ogijo axis with a conducive, safe, and organized environment for business. Addressing the contractors and project supervisors on-site, the Chairman emphasized that the project is a cornerstone of the administration’s commitment to urban renewal and economic empowerment.
Optimistic Timeline for Completion
Providing a clear outlook on the project's delivery, the Chairman expressed optimism regarding the current progress. "We are satisfied with what we have seen on the ground today," the Chairman stated. "Our team is working diligently to ensure that the vision for a modern, bustling commercial hub in Ogijo becomes a reality for our people."
The administration has set a definitive timeline for the project’s conclusion. "Insha Allah, by or before the end of the third quarter of this year (September 2026), both the lock-up shops and the open stalls will be fully completed and commissioned for use," the Chairman confirmed.

The completion of the second phase is expected to significantly reduce the deficit of commercial space in the area, boost the internally generated revenue (IGR) of the Local Government, and provide a much-needed lift to the livelihoods of local traders.
