ABUJA – In a high-octane address that signaled both a victory lap and a roadmap for the future, Chief (Barr.) Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, National Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), declared an end to the internal "night" that nearly derailed Nigeria’s main opposition party.
Speaking at the National Convention themed "Inclusiveness, Unity, and Renewal," a visibly energized Wike told a packed arena of delegates that the party has successfully purged itself of "naysayers" and "betrayers," officially returning the PDP to its rightful owners: the grassroots.
Surviving the Storm
Wike’s address was a raw reflection on the leadership crisis that recently threatened to fracture the party along ethnic and geographic lines. He lauded the resilience of the delegates, describing them as "victorious men and women" who refused to abandon the umbrella during its most turbulent hour.
> "We overcame a tragic crisis of leadership... so huge that it threatened to destroy our beautiful party," Wike stated. "We trounced the naysayers who abandoned the core values upon which the party was built and arrested the party from the vice grip of those who abhor internal democracy."

The National Leader did not mince words regarding former allies, referencing the "infidelity of opportunistic elites" who defected to other parties for selfish gains while the party’s rank-and-file remained steadfast.

Central to Wike’s speech was an ode to the "stable" dedication of members across the country’s wards. He credited their "stubborn faith" and prayers for the current "renaissance" of the party. According to Wike, while the political elite wavered, the grassroots stayed the course, ensuring the PDP remained a viable vehicle for national development.
A Call for Total Reconciliation
Despite the sharp rhetoric against "pretend leaders," Wike pivoted toward a message of reconciliation, extending an olive branch to those who had drifted away during the crisis.
The "Path to the Future" according to Wike:
