An All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Ogun State, Alhaji Yisa Ismaila Adebayo, popularly known as OMO-ADE, has called on politicians, party members, and supporters in Abeokuta North Local Government and across the state to actively participate in the ongoing electronic registration and re-registration exercise of the party.
The appeal comes as the APC in Ogun State officially commenced its statewide electronic registration and re-registration of members, a move aimed at expanding the party’s membership base, strengthening internal cohesion, and positioning the party for future political engagements.
The exercise was formally flagged off on Tuesday by the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, who described the initiative as a strategic and transformative step in deepening party democracy and consolidating APC’s status as the largest and most successful political party in Africa.
Speaking through his Deputy, Engr. (Mrs.) Noimot Salako-Oyedele, Governor Abiodun said the electronic registration process provides an opportunity for new members to join the party while allowing existing members to reaffirm their loyalty through a transparent and technology-driven system.
According to the Governor, the e-registration initiative is designed to eliminate manipulation, inflated figures, and other fraudulent practices that have characterised manual registration processes in the past. He added that the exercise would ensure accuracy, efficiency, and credibility in line with global best practices for political party administration.
“This electronic registration will give us a clean, credible, and verifiable membership database. It will enhance trust, transparency, and proper data management. The era of fake or padded membership figures is over,” Governor Abiodun said.
He charged party leaders, stakeholders, and members at all levels to take collective responsibility for the success of the exercise by mobilising supporters across the 236 wards of the state to ensure mass participation.
In his reaction, Alhaji Yisa Ismaila Adebayo (OMO-ADE) commended the party leadership for embracing technology and urged politicians and party faithful in Abeokuta North and beyond to key into the process.
“This exercise is critical to the future of our party. I encourage all politicians, leaders, and supporters of APC to participate fully and mobilise others. A strong database means a stronger party,” he said.
Earlier in his remarks, the State Chairman of APC, Chief Yemi Sanusi, urged members to see the registration and re-registration exercise as a unifying process rather than a personal or transactional venture.
“This is not about individual interests or personal gain. It is about consolidating our collective strength and positioning the APC for continued leadership and electoral success in Ogun State and Nigeria at large,” Sanusi stated.
The APC chairman assured party members that the leadership would deploy additional registration centres and trained operators where necessary to ensure that no genuine supporter or intending member is left out due to time or logistical constraints.
He stressed that the exercise is inclusive and open to all Nigerians who share the progressive ideals of the party.
The flag-off ceremony also witnessed the electronic registration of top party leaders, including the Deputy Governor, the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, and the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Dr. Toyin Taiwo, a gesture that underscored the leadership’s commitment to the success of the exercise.
Party members and supporters have therefore been urged to participate actively and mobilise others, as the APC continues to build a stronger, more inclusive, and forward-looking political family in Ogun State.
