Five people, including two Fulani herders and three farmers, were injured on Monday afternoon in a violent clash over alleged crop destruction at Down Graz community in Mpape, Federal Capital Territory.

The incident erupted around 12:40 p.m. when herders reportedly led their cattle into a beans and guinea corn farm owned by one Abdullahi Musa.

When confronted by the farmer’s brothers, a scuffle broke out and quickly escalated, drawing in other community members.

Security correspondent Zagazola Makama reports that police from Mpape Division swiftly responded to a distress call, restored calm, and rescued the five injured persons.

All victims were rushed to Mpape Health Centre where they are receiving treatment.A cow that sustained severe stab wounds, with protruding intestines, was recovered at the scene and later released to the herders on bond.Authorities have invited community leaders from both sides for an emergency peace meeting to prevent further escalation.

The clash is the latest in a series of farmer-herder disputes in parts of the FCT, despite ongoing efforts by security agencies and the administration to mediate and enforce grazing regulations.
