Ogun State – The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State Council, has expressed profound sorrow over the tragic passing of Mrs. Fakeye, the wife of renowned journalist and publisher Simon Fakeye, owner of the Razor Times online medium. Mrs. Fakeye tragically lost her life earlier today in a fatal motorcycle accident in the Atan Ota area of Ogun State.

Reports indicate that the couple was traveling on a motorcycle when a sudden tire burst led to a loss of control, resulting in a catastrophic tumble. While Mr. Fakeye sustained injuries in the unfortunate incident, Mrs. Fakeye was pronounced dead at the scene, leaving behind a grieving husband and loved ones.

In a statement released by the Ogun State Council of the NUJ, the organization conveyed its deepest condolences to Mr. Fakeye and the families affected by this grievous loss. The council noted the profound impact of Mrs. Fakeye's untimely death on both her family and the wider community.

“The NUJ is deeply saddened by this tragic event. We extend our heartfelt sympathies to Mr. Simon Fakeye and the bereaved families during this immensely difficult time,” the statement read. “We pray that God grants them the strength to bear this irreplaceable loss.”

Following the tragic incident, the remains of Mrs. Fakeye were laid to rest in a ceremony held this evening, adhering to Christian rites and customs. This solemn event brought together family members, friends, and colleagues who came to pay their final respects to a beloved wife and community member.

As Mr. Fakeye continues to respond to medical treatment in the hospital, the NUJ has reiterated its commitment to supporting him through this period of grief. The council highlights Mr. Fakeye’s significant contributions to the media landscape in Ogun State, noting that he previously served as a member of the Caretaker Committee of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ogun State Council. His dedication and service to the journalistic profession have not gone unnoticed and are highly appreciated by his peers.

In expressing their solidarity with Mr. Fakeye, NUJ officials have stated, "We are here for him as he navigates this painful chapter of his life. Our thoughts and prayers remain with him and all who are mourning this significant loss."

The tragic incident has sparked discussions within the community about the safety practices surrounding motorcycle travel and the need for increased awareness regarding road safety. As the community mourns, Mr. Fakeye’s resilience and determination are expected to shine through, buoyed by the support of his colleagues and friends.

The NUJ invites all members and well-wishers to join in prayers for a swift recovery for Mr. Simon Fakeye and for the peaceful repose of Mrs. Fakeye's soul. In times of grief, the union stands united, reflecting the solidarity and compassion within the journalism community.
