ABUJA — The member of House of Representatives, Rt Hon. Ibrahim Ayokunle Isiaka has moved a motion for thorough investigation of abandoned water project scheme in Agbado—Isoye, Ifo area of Ogun state.
Isiaka, during the week at the plenary of the Green Chamber raised the motion for Needs to investigate the abandoned Agbado-Isoye Water Scheme.
Rep. ISIAKA while speaking with his colleagues at the plenary said The Agbado-Isoye Water Scheme is a regional water project conceptualized to compensate the people of Agbado, Oke-Aro Ibaragun, Akute Ajuwo, Isheri Ojodu wards in Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State from the World-Bank Assisted Water Project of Lagos State Government Iju and Oke-Aro water supply both located within the four wards.
Furthermore, he emphasized that the Agbado-Isoye Water Scheme was captured in 2006 Appropriation uncontroverted and awarded same year to Messrs O. Hara Construction Company Ltd, for the sum of #560,000,000 naira, the project proceeded smoothly with the construction of massive industrial boreholes and ground water storage tanks but was abandoned by the federal government at 54.37% completion stage.
The House worried at the high rate of abandoned federal government projects despite the huge investment without achieving any result; The House therefore resolves to;
1. Urge the federal ministry of water resources and sanitation to activate the process of resumption of work at the site of the Agbado-Isoye Water Scheme.
2. Mandate the committee on water resources to investigate the cause of the abandoned Agbado-Isoye Water Scheme; and
3. Also mandates the Committee on Water Resources and Appropriation to make provisions for the completion of the outstanding components of the Agbado-Isoye Water Scheme Project in the 2025 Budget estimates
